Chris Baker is an author and the founder of Chicory Naturalist, a nature-focused bookshop and community space rooted in Kingston, New York. Their debut picture book, On a Mushroom Day, received a Riverby Award for excellence in nonfiction. Their second book, Weaver and the Web, comes out July 2026 from Godwin Books.
Chris is also a certified forager and enthusiastic outdoor educator, leading walks in the Hudson Valley bioregion. Running through all of her professional endeavors is a passion for reconnecting broken chains of generational knowledge about the natural world. They live a few blocks from the Hudson River with their spouse, child and two calico cats.
