Chris is an author, professional mushroom lover, and founder of Chicory Naturalist, a nature-focused bookshop and community space rooted in Kingston, New York. Her first picture book, On a Mushroom Day, is illustrated by Alex Finkeldey and comes out July 16th from Tundra Books. Chris also writes the free newsletter The Oyster Log, considering northeast ecology with curiosity and care.

Chris is a certified forager and enthusiastic guide to the realm of fungi, leading forays in the Hudson Valley bioregion. Running through all her professional endeavors is a passion for reconnecting broken chains of generational knowledge about the natural world. She lives a few blocks from the Hudson River with her spouse, child and two calico cats.
